As a public school teacher in New York City, Patrick Honner has taught everything from introductory algebra to multivariable Calculus, and over his career he has taught students from elementary school to graduate school. He has been repeatedly recognized for excellence in mathematics teaching, including the Presidential Award in 2013.
Patrick is passionate about mathematics, and works to help students see math as a way to process, understand, and appreciate the world. He mentors student research, gets students writing about their mathematical experiences, and inspires students to create using mathematics.
Patrick is an active teacher-leader in a variety of mathematics and education communities at the school, local, and national level. He is a National STEM Teacher Ambassador, has served as an instructional coach in a department of 40 teachers, runs frequent workshops on mathematics and technology, mentors new and early-career teachers, and contributes to mathematics and teaching through a variety of professional networks.
